Basit and Amjad Farooq Alvi ran a computer shop in Lahore and wrote Brain to track illicit copies of their medical software. The virus spread far further than they ever expected, reaching computers around the world, and the contact details they had embedded meant they started receiving angry calls from strangers whose machines it had infected.
