A sculpture at CIA headquarters has hidden an encrypted message since 1990 — and one part of it still hasn't been cracked.

The copper artwork, called Kryptos, holds four enciphered passages; three were solved over the years by codebreakers inside and outside the agency, but the fourth has defeated every attempt for decades. Its creator occasionally releases a small clue, keeping a worldwide community of amateur cryptographers obsessed.
